What is Turkey Trot with Marly Bird?

Turkey Trot Mystery Make-Along with Marly Bird 2023 is a super fun online event held over the US Thanksgiving weekend for BOTH knitters and crocheters. This year, we are including a pattern for Tunisian crocheters also!

This event has historically been a free event, and this year it is as well, however we are introducing a new upgrade for this mystery make-along. The Silver Platter Experience is a low cost VIP package that includes options for our knitters, crocheters and BiCrafty friends.

What is a Make-Along?

It's a cozy gathering of knitters and crocheters, all working on similar projects at the same time. This year, we're thrilled to present a choice between a knit and a crochet pattern. Both patterns will create sweaters, perfect for the sweater weather season. Choose one or challenge yourself with both, and let's create something beautiful together!

What are we making in 2023?

What Are We Making for Turkey Trot 2023? For the first time in 5 year,s we ARE NOT KEEPING IT A MYSTERY! As you know we are making sweaters for our selves.

What is the skill level for these projects?

Every year we are very conscientious of the skill level needed for our projects. As we go through the design process we make sure that the projects are achievable by any advanced beginner/intermediate knitter or crocheter.

Are there videos to help with each clue?

Yes! There are full CC videos for each clue for each project. These videos will be permanently linked in the Silver Platter Experience, but will only be available on the Marly Bird YouTube Channel for a limited time for the free version of the event.

Where do we get HELP during the event?

Of Course! During the event there are threads opened up every day inside the Marly’s Minions Facebook Group for each craft.

You can ask questions, post progress pictures, and give encouragement in these threads. Make sure you post in the specific Craft and Clue you are working on!

Each day I will post a link to each section of the pattern in the original blog post announcement. Silver Platter members will have the full ad-free pdf pattern available for download the first day of the event along with all the accompanying video support.

Oh yes, there will be prizes!!! After the final clue is released (11/27/22) you will then have a week to complete your project.

Any finished project image that is posted on the special thread in the Marly's Minions Facebook group will be entered for a chance to win... Yes, you can post on instagram as well but you MUST use the hashtag! #MarlyBirdTurkeyTrot2023

Criteria for chance to win:

You must have a finished project by 11:59pm ET DECEMBER 4, 2023!

Photo of your finished project must be posted in the Marly's Minions group in the photo thread (if you post your photo anywhere else it will not be an entry to win) ETA: you can post on instagram as well but you MUST use the hashtag!

There is 1 prize for every 50 entries. What does that mean? If 100 people enter photos on the special thread, we will give away two prizes. If 500 people enter photos of their finished project on the special thread we will give out 10 prizes!!! There will be a max giveaway of 20 total prizes.

All the winners will be randomly selected and the winners will be announced on Dec. 8th on the Marly's Minions FB Group.

When will this VIP Upgrade go away?

Once you secure your VIP upgrade, it will become a permanent feature in your Marly Bird House account, ready for unlimited access whenever you wish. However, the availability to purchase this offer is not eternal.
